Highlights

  • Watch multiple USB, built-in, IP, RTSP, and ONVIF cameras
  • Detect motion, faces, people, vehicles, sounds, and lingering or breach events
  • Recognize known faces and ask you to identify unknown faces
  • Record video before and after an important event
  • Automatically arm or disarm when trusted people arrive or leave
  • Use Home, Away, Night, and High Alert security modes
  • Send alerts through Windows, email, webhooks, Telegram, and Pushbullet
  • Speak alerts aloud with local Windows voices or optional Piper voices
  • Review live cameras and recorded events from the desktop or web dashboard
  • Keep processing and event history local, with optional off-site evidence backup
  • Check camera health and reconnect cameras automatically when possible
  • Keep event, face, and sound history in a local SQLite database

How it works

  1. Connect your cameras and choose what Medusa should watch for.
  2. Medusa watches the camera and other configured sensors.
  3. When something important happens, its rules decide what action to take.
  4. It can record, alert you, speak an announcement, save the event, and optionally back up evidence.

Why it is different

  • Local-first: the main processing happens on your own Windows computer.
  • Presence-aware: trusted faces can automatically change whether the system is armed.
  • Policy-driven: different kinds of events can have different recording, alert, voice, and cooldown rules.
  • Cloud-optional: off-site backup is something you choose to enable, not a requirement for the core system.

One-time license

$300 limited launch price. The planned regular price is $499. The license is intended for one Windows computer and does not require a recurring software subscription.

Release note

Some optional detection components depend on their supporting model or Windows package being installed. The core system is designed to continue operating when an optional detector is unavailable.
